“Terribly disappointing” – Halep says judgment in her doping case has been delayed yet again
The former world No 1 has not been able to play since being provisionally suspended in October 2022

Former world No 1 Simona Halep has confirmed that the judgment in her doping case has been delayed once again, calling the delay ‘terribly disappointing’.
The Romanian has been earlier informed by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) that a decision in her case would be made by the end of August but on Thursday, she took to Instagram to update her followers that the decision has been delayed once again.
“Today I found out that the decision in my case, which was expected this week, will be further delayed. This is terribly disappointing, as I have consistently said that all I ask for is to be judged,” Halep wrote on her Instagram stories. “It is hard to explain the emotional toll that all of these delays have had and continue to have on me.”
Halep has been provisionally suspended since October 2022 after she tested positive for Roxadustat, a banned substance that promotes the growth of endogenous erythropoietin (EPO) for better endurance. In May this year, it was announced that she was facing some additional charges related to her blood passport.
With her last match coming at the US Open in 2022, the Romanian has not been able to compete on the tour for almost a year without a decision on her case.
Halep is a two-time Grand Slam singles champion but her inactivity has seen her drop to No 1,138 in the world rankings.
