No 5 seed Kamilla Rakhimova reached the semi-finals of the Tampico Open by defeating Anastasia Tikhonova 6-1, 6-2 at the Centro Libanés Mexicano de Tampico on Friday evening.
Rakhimova, ranked No 89, will play the winner of the match between top seed Caroline Dolehide and No 6 seed Emina Bektas next.
Ahead of her victory, Kamilla Rakhimova won against Cypriot Raluka Serban (6-0, 6-2) and edged out Katarina Kozarov (2-6, 6-2, 7-5).
Tikhonova, ranked No 225, beat Mexican lucky loser Daniela Schekaiban (6-0, 6-0) and Hungarian Panna Udvardy (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
