Tampico Open: Mandlik gets free pass to semi-finals, to face Kalinskaya

American Elizabeth Mandlik advanced to the last four of the Tampico Open after Mexican wildcard Fernanda Contreras Gomez withdrew before the match at the Centro Libanés Mexicano de Tampico on Friday.

Mandlik, ranked No 138, will face Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 4 seed, next.

Earlier in the week, the 22-year-old American beat second seed Peyton Stearns (3-6, 6-1, 6-3) and edged out Ann Li (5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (6)).

Contreras Gomez, ranked No 409, won against Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (6-2, 7-5) and Colombian Emiliana Arango, the No 8 seed (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) previously in the tournament.
