Stuttgart Open: Rybakina edges Kudermetova to make quarters
Elena Rybakina edged out Veronika Kudermetova 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-4 on Thursday and will face the winner of the match between Italian Jasmine Paolini and Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 7 seed, in the next round

Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, edged out Russian Veronika Kudermetova 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open at the Porsche-Arena on Thursday.
Rybakina, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between Italian Jasmine Paolini and Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 7 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Stuttgart tournament, Kudermetova, ranked No 19, edged out Barbora Krejcikova (5-7, 6-4, 6-4).
