Stuttgart Open: Kostyuk upsets Vondrousova to maintain stunning run and reach final

Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk beat No 6 seed Marketa Vondrousova 7-6 (2), 6-2 to move into the final of the Stuttgart Open at the Porsche-Arena.
Kostuyk has become the first Ukrainian to reach the final of the Stuttgart Open following her stunning run in the German city this week.
The 21-year-old beat Laura Siegemund (6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-4), Qinwen Zheng (6-2, 4-6, 7-5) and American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6)) en route to the final.
Kostyuk, ranked No 27, will face Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, in Sunday’s showpiece event.
The 21-year-old Ukrainian beat German wildcard Laura Siegemund (6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-4), Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 5 seed (6-2, 4-6, 7-5) and American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6)) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Stuttgart tournament, Vondrousova, ranked No 8, won against Croat Donna Vekic (6-4, 6-3), Russian Anastasia Potapova (7-6 (5), 6-1) and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed (3-6, 6-3, 7-5).
