Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 7 seed, advanced to the second round of the Stuttgart Open by edging out Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1) at the Porsche-Arena on Wednesday.
Jabeur, ranked No 9, will face Jasmine Paolini next.
