Strasbourg Open: Kerber reaches semi-finals
Angelique Kerber edged out Magda Linette and will face Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin in the semi-finals
German Angelique Kerber, the second seed, edged out Pole Magda Linette, the No 8 seed, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to advance to the last four of the WTA Strasbourg Open at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Thursday.
Kerber, ranked No 22, will play Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin, who scored a 6-3, 6-0 win over ninth seed Viktorija Golubic for a place in the final.
The 34-year-old German defeated Frenchwoman Diane Parry (6-3, 6-4) and edged out Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the tournament.
Earlier in the event, Linette, ranked No 56, won against Russian Varvara Gracheva (6-3, 6-0) and Heather Watson (6-1, 6-1).
Top seed and former world No 1 Karolina Pliskova will meet Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan in the other semi-final.
