Strasbourg Open: Kalinina advances to quarters
Anhelina Kalinina delivered a perfect third set to beat Fiona Ferro on Wednesday in Strasbourg. Kalinina will play top seed Marketa Vondrousova in the next round.
Anhelina Kalinina reached the last eight of the Strasbourg Open by defeating French wildcard Fiona Ferro 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Wednesday night.
Kalinina, ranked No 56, will play top seed Marketa Vondrousova next.
Ahead of her victory, the Ukrainian edged out Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 8 seed (6-3, 3-6, 6-4).
Ferro, ranked No 142, defeated Russian qualifier Erika Andreeva (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round of the Strasbourg tournament.
