Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the second seed, won against American Emma Navarro 6-4, 7-6 (1) to reach the last eight of the Strasbourg Open at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Wednesday.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 14, will play Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 5 seed, next.
Navarro, ranked No 24, defeated French wildcard Alize Cornet (6-4, 6-1) in the previous round of the Strasbourg tournament.
