Strasbourg Open: Davis saves match points to beat Pavlyuchenkova, meets Blinkova in semis
The American defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-0 on Thursday afternoon and will play Russian Anna Blinkova in the next round
American Lauren Davis, the No 7 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the WTA Strasbourg Open by defeating Russian wildcard Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-0 at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Thursday.
Davis, ranked No 58, saved two match points as the Russian served for the match at 5-4 in the second set before fighting her way back. She will play another Russian, Anna Blinkova, next.

The American won against French qualifier Sarah Iliev (7-5, 6-0) and Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) ahead of her win today.
In the previous rounds of the Strasbourg tournament, Pavlyuchenkova, a former world No 11 who is now ranked No 424, won against qualifier Angelina Gabueva (6-3, 6-1) and Pole Magda Linette, the top seed (6-3, 6-2).
