Collins stays red hot, cruises into Strasbourg semi-finals
Danielle Collins remained on a roll by beating Clara Burel in straight sets on Thursday in Strasbourg. Collins awaits either top-seeded Marketa Vondrousova or Anhelina Kalinina in the last four.
American Danielle Collins, the No 3 seed, continued her fine form by advancing to the semi-finals of the Strasbourg Open with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Frenchwoman Clara Burel at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Thursday evening.
Collins, ranked No 12, will next face the winner of the match between top seed Marketa Vondrousova and Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina.
In the previous round of the Strasbourg tournament, the 30-year-old dismissed Katerina Siniakova (6-1, 6-2).
Burel, ranked No 43, previously defeated wildcard Karolina Pliskova (7-5, 0-6, 6-1) and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 7 seed (7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-1).
