Strasbourg Open: Blinkova beats Friedsam to make quarter-finals

Anna Blinkova beat German Anna-Lena Friedsam (6-4, 7-6 (11)) on Tuesday to advance to the quarter-finals of the Strasbourg Open.
Blinkova, ranked No 66, will now play against the winner of the match between American Emma Navarro and Swiss Jil Teichmann, the No 8 seed.
Ahead of her victory, Blinkova had edged out Frenchwoman Amandine Hesse (4-6, 6-0, 6-4).
Friedsam, ranked No 92, won against Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 3 seed (6-0, 6-0) in the previous round.
