Stephens sees off Cirstea in Indian Wells

American Sloane Stephens advanced to the third round of the Indian Wells by beating Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 19 seed, 6-0, 7-5 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday night.

Stephens, ranked No 44, will play Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 11 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Indian Wells tournament, the American won against Egyptian Mayar Sherif (7-5, 6-3).
