Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko won against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 5 seed, 7-5, 7-6 (5) to reach the last eight of the Slovenia Open at Tennis Arena Portoroz on Wednesday.
Tsurenko, ranked No 92, will face the winner of the match between Czech Tereza Martincova and Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 3 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 33-year-old Ukrainian edged out Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse (6-1, 4-6, 6-4).
Alexandrova, ranked No 24, edged out Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (7-6 (5), 5-7, 7-5) in the previous round.
