Siniakova edges tight tussle with Rybakina, wins Slovenia title

Czech Katerina Siniakova edged out Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the Wimbledon champion and No 3 seed, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), 6-4 to win the Slovenia Open tournament at Tennis Arena Portoroz on Sunday.
Siniakova, ranked No 82, defeated Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 4 seed (6-1, 6-4), Jodie Burrage (7-5, 6-1), Italian Jasmine Paolini (6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (5)) and German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam (6-1, 7-5) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Rybakina, ranked No 25, beat German Laura Siegemund (6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (8)), Czech Tereza Martincova (6-4, 6-1), Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (W/O) and Romanian Ana Bogdan (6-1, 6-1).
