Slovenia Open: Bogdan books spot in last eight

Ana Bogdan beat Tamara Zidansek 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-1 on Wednesday and will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Cristina Bucsa and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the second seed, in the next round

Romanian Ana Bogdan won against Slovenian Tamara Zidansek 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Slovenia Open at Tennis Arena Portoroz on Wednesday.

Bogdan, ranked No 65, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Cristina Bucsa and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the second seed, next.

The Romanian defeated Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, the No 8 seed (7-5, 4-6, 6-1) in the previous round.

In the first round, Zidansek, ranked No 91, won against Russian qualifier Anastasia Zakharova (6-4, 6-4).
