Australian qualifier Maya Joint reached the second round of the Singapore Open by edging out American Alycia Parks 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 at the Kallang Tennis Hub.
Joint, ranked No 109, will play the winner of the match between Canadian Rebecca Marino and Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 4 seed, next.
