Seoul Open: Alexandrova reaches final
Ekaterina Alexandrova won against Tatjana Maria 6-2, 6-4 on Saturday and will play the winner of the match between Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the top seed, and No 6 seed Emma Raducanu in the final
Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the second seed, beat German Tatjana Maria, the No 7 seed, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the final of the Seoul Open at the Seoul Olympic Park on Saturday.
Alexandrova, ranked No 24, will face the winner of the match between Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the top seed, and No 6 seed Emma Raducanu next.
The Russian still didn’t lose a set in Koera. She won against American Asia Muhammad (6-1, 3-6, 6-1), wildcard Na-Lae Han (6-1, 6-3) and Swiss qualifier Lulu Sun (7-5, 7-6 (6)) in the previous rounds of the Hana Bank Korea Open.
Maria, ranked No 80 and 2022 Wimbledon semi-finalist, defeated Canadian Eugenie Bouchard (7-6 (5), 7-6 (5)), Australian Kimberly Birrell (6-0, 6-3) and Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 4 seed (6-1, 6-1).
