San Luis Potosi Open: Stefanini into quarter-finals as Andreeva retires injured
Stefanini benefited from the retirement of Erika Andreeva (5-0) and will play the winner of the match between Stakusic and Podoroska in the next round
Italian Lucrezia Stefanini moved into the last eight of the San Luis Potosi Open when Russian Erika Andreeva, the No 5 seed, retired at the Club Deportivo Potosino.
Stefanini, ranked No 153, led 5-0 when Andreeva, ranked No 94, pulled out on Wednesday evening at the Club Deportivo Potosino.
The Italian will play the winner of the match between Canadian wildcard Marina Stakusic and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the No 4 seed, next.
Lucrezia Stefanini won against Serb Natalija Stevanovic (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the San Luis Potosi tournament.
In the previous round of the San Luis Potosi tournament, the 19-year-old Russian defeated Mexican wildcard Ana Sofia Sanchez (6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-2).
