Italian Sara Errani, the No 7 seed, defeated Spaniard Aliona Bolsova 6-2, 6-2 to move into the last eight of the San Luis Potosi Open on Thursday night.
Errani, ranked No 99, will face the winner of the match between Mexican wildcard Maria Fernanda Navarro Oliva and German Tatjana Maria, the second seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 35-year-old Italian won against Swiss Ylena In-Albon (6-3, 6-2).
Bolsova, ranked No 152, edged out Greek Despina Papamichail (6-1, 3-6, 6-4) in the previous round.
