Colombian wildcard Emiliana Arango won against Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean 6-4, 4-1 to advance to the last 8 of the San Luis Potosi Open on Thursday night.
Arango, ranked No 286, will face Russian Elina Avanesyan next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old Colombian edged out Austrian Julia Grabher, the No 6 seed (7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-4).
Jeanjean, ranked No 109, defeated American Hailey Baptiste (6-2, 6-1) in the previous round.
