San Jose Open: Kudermetova beats Giorgi and advances to second round
Veronika Kudermetova edged out Camila Giorgi 7-6 (2), 4-6, 7-5 on Tuesday evening. She’ll play the winner of the match between Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia and American Claire Liu in the next round

Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 9 seed, reached the second round of the San Jose Open by edging out Italian Camila Giorgi 7-6 (2), 4-6, 7-5 at San Jose State University Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Kudermetova, ranked No 19, will face American Claire Liu, who defeated Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia in straight sets
