Kasatkina makes return trip to San Jose final, to face Rogers
Daria Kasatkina beats Paula Badosa in straight sets on Saturday to reach the San Jose final. Shelby Rogers stands in Kasatkina’s way of the title.
San Jose must feel like home for Daria Kasatkina.
Kasatkina reached the final of the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic last summer and she is there once again after defeating Paula Badosa 6-2, 6-4 on Saturday night. The Russian broke serve five times to advance in one hour and 22 minutes.
If Kasatkina defeats Shelby Rogers in Sunday’s title match at the San Jose State University Tennis Center, she will get back into the top 10; otherwise Coco Gauff — who lost to Badosa in the quarter-finals — will make her top-10 debut.

She is one win away to get back on top 10 (and avoid Coco Gauff's debut…)
Kasatkina through to 10th career WTA final
Kasatkina will be playing in her 10th WTA final on Sunday. She is 4-5 lifetime in such situations, most recently triumphing early last season at an Australian Open warmup tournament in Melbourne.
Prior to beating Badosa, the world No 12 ousted Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina (1-6, 6-2, 6-0), American qualifier Taylor Townsend (6-4, 6-0), and fourth-seeded Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (4-6, 7-5, 6-0).
Badosa earned her place in the semis by beating Elizabeth Mandlik (6-2, 5-7, 7-6(5)) and Coco Gauff (7-6(4), 6-2).
