Katerina Siniakova moved into the second round of the San Diego Open by winning against Japanese qualifier Mai Hontama 6-3, 6-1 at the Barnes Tennis Center on Tuesday night.
Siniakova, ranked No 43, will play No 3 seed Emma Navarro next.
