San Diego Open: qualifier Chirico makes second round, Badosa next
Louisa Chirico edged out Alison Riske-Amritraj 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5) on Monday evening. She’ll face second seed Paula Badosa in the next round
Qualifier Louisa Chirico reached the second round of the San Diego Open by edging out Alison Riske-Amritraj 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5) at the Barnes Tennis Centre on Monday evening.
Riske-Amritraj lead 4-0 and 5-3 in the second set, and she served for the match à 6-5 in the decisive set.
Chirico, ranked No 196, will face second seed Paula Badosa next.
