San Diego Open: Wozniacki goes down to Blinkova in three sets
Anna Blinkova beat Caroline Wozniacki 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 on Tuesday and will play Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the No 5 seed, in the next round
Russian Anna Blinkova won against Danish wildcard Caroline Wozniacki 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 to move into the second round of the San Diego Open at the Barnes Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Wozniacki, a former world No 1 and Grand Slam champion, led 6-1, 2-0 in the match before Blinkova came back for the win.
The Dane returned to the tour in August last year after giving birth to two children. She is now 1-3 for the season with her latest loss. Interestingly, Wozniacki also led 6-1, 2-0 in her previous loss when she went down to Maria Timofeeva in the second round of the Australian Open last month.
Blinkova, ranked No 51, will face Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the No 5 seed, next.
