Saint-Malo Open: Volynets moves into quarter-finals

American Katie Volynets edged out Belgian Maryna Zanevska, the No 3 seed, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Saint-Malo Open at the Parc des sports de Marville on Wednesday.
Volynets, ranked No 103, will play the winner of the match between Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 7 seed, and Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot next.
The 21-year-old American beat French wildcard Margaux Rouvroy (7-5, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Saint-Malo tournament, Zanevska, ranked No 75, won against Brazilian Laura Pigossi (6-2, 6-0).
