Saint-Malo Open: Minnen books spot in final
Greet Minnen beat Katie Volynets 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday afternoon and qualified for the final.
Belgian Greet Minnen won against American Katie Volynets 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Saint-Malo Open at the Parc des sports de Marville on Saturday.
Minnen, ranked No 173, will play the winner of the match between American wildcard Sloane Stephens and Ukrainian wildcard Elina Svitolina next.
In the previous rounds of the Saint-Malo tournament, the Belgian beat American Claire Liu, the second seed (2-6, 6-2, 6-4), Jodie Burrage (6-4, 6-3) and American Emma Navarro, the No 8 seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-3).
Volynets, ranked No 103, defeated French wildcard Margaux Rouvroy (7-5, 6-2), Belgian Maryna Zanevska, the No 3 seed (2-6, 6-4, 7-5) and Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
