Sabalenka voted WTA Player of the Year; Errani/ Paolini voted Best Doubles Team

Navarro is voted WTA Newcomer of the Year while Paula Badosa gets Comeback Player of the Year award

World No 1 Aryna Sabalenka, who won two of the four Grand Slams this year, has been voted WTA Player of the Year by international tennis media.

The 26-year-old Belarusian started the season by winning the Australian Open in January for the second year in a row and then won her first US Open title in September. She also won the Cincinnati and Wuhan titles and took over the top spot from Iga Swiatek in October to end the season as world No 1 for the first time.

The Italian duo of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini have been voted WTA Doubles Team of the Year. The Italians won WTA 1000 titles in Rome and Beijing as well as the WTA 500 Linz title. They also won the gold medal in doubles at the Paris Olympics and reached the final at Roland-Garros.

American Emma Navarro was named WTA Most Improved Player of the Year. The 23-year-old won her first WTA singles title in Hobart and reached the semi-final at the US Open, one of six semi-finals for her on the tour in 2024.

New Zealand’s Lulu Sun, who reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon as a qualifier, was named WTA Newcomer of the Year. The Kiwi began the year ranked outside the Top 200 in January and ended the season at No 40.

Former world No 2 Paula Badosa, who had dropped to No 140 in May due to a back injury and then rebounded to No 12 at the end of the season, was named WTA Comeback Player of the Year. The Spaniard won her fourth career singles title in Washington and reached the semi-finals in Cincinnati, Beijing and Ningbo as well as the quarter-finals of the US Open.
