Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Jasmine Paolini are confirmed to compete in the 25th edition of the WTA Dubai Tennis Championships scheduled for February 16-22, 2025. Barbora Krejcikova, Zheng Qinwen, Jessica Pegula, and Daria Kasatkina are also set to participate in the tournament next year.

Paolini will return to Dubai with the aim of defending her first WTA 1000 title. She took the trophy home this year as an unseeded contender, defeating Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya (4-6, 7-5, 7-5) in the final.

Sabalenka, the current world No 1, fought for glory in the 2024 edition after a triumphant run at the Australian Open. She entered the draw seeded second but crashed out with a loss to Donna Vekic in her opener (6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-0).

Swiatek, on the other hand, stayed alive till losing the semi-final to eventual runner-up Kalinskaya (6-4, 6-4).

The Dubai Tennis Championships began in 1993, with the WTA event inaugurated in 2001. Thus, the women’s tournament will celebrate its Silver Jubilee in 2025. Tournament director Salah Tahlak looked forward to the special edition and expressed his delight, saying:

“We are delighted to have so many of the world’s top women’s players competing in Dubai as we celebrate an incredible milestone in this tournament’s history. Our WTA event continues to grow every year and 2025 promises to be special.”
