‘s-Hertogenbosch Open: Montgomery beats Niemeier to move into last eight

American qualifier Robin Montgomery moved into the last eight of the’s-Hertogenbosch Open by beating German Jule Niemeier 6-3, 6-3 at Autotron Rosmalen.

Montgomery, ranked No 173, will face Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 3 seed, next.

The 19-year-old American edged out Pole Magda Linette, the No 8 seed (6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-5) in the previous round of the Rosmalen tournament.

In the previous round of the Rosmalen tournament, Niemeier, ranked No 91, edged out Dane Clara Tauson (6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-4).
