Rybakina up to No 3 after Brisbane win; Swiatek clear at top – WTA rankings latest
The former Wimbledon champion equals her career-high after a stunning win in Brisbane
Elena Rybakina‘s stunning victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the Brisbane International at the weekend moved the Kazakhstan player up to No 3 in the latest WTA rankings, which were officially updated on Monday.
The former Wimbledon champion equals her career-high ranking, climbing above Coco Gauff, even though the American successfully defended her Auckland title with victory over Elina Svitolina.
Naomi Osaka has a ranking for the first time since before she began her maternity leave, clocking in at No 833 after winning one match on her comeback to the Tour in Brisbane.
Svitolina is closing in on a return to the world’s top 20, the Ukrainian up two places to No 23 after reaching the final in Auckland.
Swiatek still well clear at the top
Iga Swiatek looked on top form at the United Cup last week and the Pole remains well clear of Sabalenka at the top, sitting on 9880 points to the Belarusian’s 8,995, with Sabalenka due to defend 2000 points at the Australian Open, having won her first slam title in Melbourne last year.
