Rybakina continues hot form, into Adelaide quarter-finals

Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the top seed, defeated Spanish lucky loser Cristina Bucsa 6-3, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Adelaide Open at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Wednesday.

The win is Rybakina’s sixth in a row in 2024, with the 24-year-old winning the Brisbane International last week and returning to her career-high of No 3 in the world this Monday. She is yet to drop a set this season as well.

Rybakina will play the winner of the match between Ekaterina Alexandrova and No 8 seed Veronika Kudermetova next.

In the previous round of the Adelaide tournament, Bucsa, ranked No 61, won against Italian Jasmine Paolini (6-3, 6-3).
