Rybakina announces split with long-time coach Vukov
The Kazakh announced the split just days before the final major of the year
Elena Rybakina announced that her coaching partnership with Stefan Vukov has come to an end, after nearly six years, just days before the US Open, the final major of 2024. Speaking on her social media accounts, Rybakina said:
“Hello everyone, after 5 years, Stefano and I are no longer working together. I thank him for his work on-court and wish him all the best for the future. Thank you all for your support.”
It was not stated as to what the reason was for the split, or if the decision was amicable. The World No 4 has had mixed fortune over the last two months, making the Wimbledon semi-finals, but then contracting acute bronchitis which forced her withdrawal from the Paris Olympic Games, before a shocking defeat in her opening match in Cincinnati vs Leylah Fernandez.
The Kazakh will play world No 134 Destanee Aiava in her opening match at the US Open next week.
