Chinese Yue Yuan, the No 4 seed, reached the last 16 of the Rouen Open by winning against Egyptian Mayar Sherif 6-3, 7-6 (7) at the Kindarena on Tuesday afternoon.
Yuan, ranked No 38, will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva and Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova next.
