Rouen Open: Linette beats Rus to move into semi-finals
Magda Linette beat Arantxa Rus 7-6 (9), 6-1 on Friday and will play the winner of the match between Anhelina Kalinina and Mirra Andreeva in the next round
Pole Magda Linette beat Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus 7-6 (9), 6-1 to move into the last four of the Rouen Open at the Kindarena.
Linette, ranked No 60, will face the winner of the match between Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 3 seed, and Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 5 seed, next.
The Pole beat French wildcard Elsa Jacquemot (7-5, 6-1) and Serb qualifier Natalija Stevanovic (6-2, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the Rouen tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Rus, ranked No 53, won against American qualifier Robin Montgomery (6-3, 6-1) and Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the top seed (6-3, 1-6, 6-3).
