Robson appointed tournament director of new WTA 500 event at Queen’s Club
The Brit will oversee the premier grass-court women’s tournament beginning on June 9, 2025
Former British player Laura Robson has been appointed the tournament director of the new WTA 500 event at London’s Queen’s Club for 2025.
Robson played professional tennis between 2008-22, reaching a career-high ranking of world No 27 in July 2013 on the women’s singles circuit. The Brit’s greatest achievements are taking home the mixed doubles silver medal alongside Andy Murray at the London Olympics in 2012 and the Wimbledon Junior title in 2008.
The 30-year-old was at the helm of the Nottingham Open in 2023 but will be responsible for the Queen’s Club tournament to be held next year, marking the return of tour-level tennis to London after 1973.
“I’m delighted to be taking up this role next summer,” Robson told LTA. “It’s very exciting that women’s tennis is returning to the Queen’s Club for the first time in over 50 years. It’s an iconic venue and has been voted Tournament of the Year by the men many times. I’m confident that the women’s event will be just as thrilling and I can’t wait to get started.”
The premier grass court women’s event will begin on June 9, 2025, immediately after the French Open and will be followed by the usual men’s ATP 500 competition at the Queen’s Club.
