Raducanu sets up Navarro second-round clash in Miami

Emma Raducanu moved into the second round of the Miami Open by beating Japanese wildcard Sayaka Ishii 6-2, 6-1 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Wednesday.

Raducanu, ranked No 60, will face No 8 seed Emma Navarro next.

“I was just so focused on every point, trying my best every point, trying to bring some energy, bringing some competitiveness, which I think has maybe been missing a bit the past couple of months,” Raducanu told Sky Sports. “It’s also nice to win in two sets and in less than two and a half hours.”

Raducanu said she was looking forward to taking on Navarro in the second round.

“I think it’s deceiving how hard she hits the backhand, she has a lot of variety. In a way we’re quite similar in terms of our build and our game,” she said.
