Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle upset Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 5 seed, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the last 16 of the Rabat Open at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc on Tuesday.
Carle, ranked No 83, will face Moroccan wildcard Aya El Aouni or Egyptian Mayar Sherif next.
