Qatar Open: Pegula saves and match point and books spot in quarter-finals
Jessica Pegula edged out Jelena Ostapenko 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 on Wednesday afternoon and will face the winner of the match between Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 6 seed, and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia in the next round
American Jessica Pegula, the second seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open by edging out Latvian Jelena Ostapenko 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday.
Pegula, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 6 seed, and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia next.
In the previous round of the Doha Open, Ostapenko, ranked No 14, won against American Madison Keys (7-5, 6-2).
