Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk defeated Pole Magda Linette 6-4, 6-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday.
Kostyuk, ranked No 21, will face the winner of the match between American Amanda Anisimova and Canadian Leylah Fernandez next.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian won against wildcard Zeynep Sonmez (6-3, 6-3) and American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed (6-2, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Linette, ranked No 36, edged out Russian qualifier Veronika Kudermetova (3-6, 6-0, 6-4) and Magdalena Frech (7-5, 5-7, 6-4).
