Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 6 seed, beat Canadian qualifier Rebecca Marino 7-6 (5), 6-2 to move into the second round of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Tuesday evening.
Kasatkina, ranked No 8, will play Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia next.
