Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia won against Spaniard Paula Badosa 7-6 (6), 6-3 to advance to the second round of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Tuesday evening.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 12, will play the winner of the match between Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 6 seed, and Canadian qualifier Rebecca Marino next.
