Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro won against Linda Fruhvirtova 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the last 8 of the Puerto Vallarta Open on Thursday.
Bouzas Maneiro, ranked No 132, will play the winner of the match between American Catherine McNally and Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 5 seed, next.
The 21-year-old Spaniard defeated American Taylor Townsend, the No 3 seed (6-3, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Fruhvirtova, ranked No 122, won against American qualifier Liv Hovde (6-3, 7-5).
