Prague Open: Frech makes final after Samson withdrawal

Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 6 seed, reached the final of the Prague Open when wildcard Laura Samson retired on Thursday at the Sparta Prague Tennis Club.

Frech, ranked No 57, led 3-6, 6-0, 4-2 when Laura Samson pulled out at the Sparta Prague Tennis Club on Thursday.

The Pole will play the winner of the match between top seed Linda Noskova and Pole Magda Linette, the No 4 seed, next.

Magdalena Frech won against Australian Astra Sharma (6-4, 2-6, 6-2), Dominika Salkova (6-4, 6-7 (4), 2-2 ret.) and Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 3 seed (2-6, 6-0, 6-1) ahead of her victory.

In the previous rounds of the Prague tournament, Laura Samson, beat Croat qualifier Tara Wurth (6-0, 6-2), second seed Katerina Siniakova (1-6, 7-5, 6-3) and Russian qualifier Oksana Selekhmeteva (2-6, 6-3, 7-5).
