Surging Bouzkova wins her first WTA title in Prague
Marie Bouzkova lifted the trophy on Sunday against Anastasia Potapova.

Czech Marie Bouzkova, the No 8 seed, beat Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 7 seed, 6-0, 6-3 to win the Prague Open title at TK Sparta Praha on Sunday afternoon.
During the final, Marie Bouzkova didn’t hit a single winner to win the title! 44 unforced errors and 12 winners for her opponent Anastasia Potapova.
Bouzkova is the fifth WTA player to claim her maiden title in 2022.

- Marie Bouzkova – Prague
She’s also the fifth Czech payer to bring home the title at Prague since the event’s inception in 2015. Bouzkova joins, Karolina Pliskova, Lucie Safarova, Petra Kvitova and Barbora Krejcikova on the list.
“It’s a dream for me to win my first title here at home,” Bouzkova said in her victory speech. “I just couldn’t be happier… It’s a dream come true and I enjoyed playing in front of the home crowd so much.”
For her efforts in Prague, Bouzkova is projected to make her top-50 debut in Monday’s rankings.
Bouzkova, ranked No 66, defeated Austrian lucky loser Sinja Kraus (6-2, 7-6 (2)), qualifier Dominika Salkova (6-1, 6-2), Russian qualifier Oksana Selekhmeteva (6-3, 6-0) and wildcard Linda Noskova (7-6 (4), 6-3) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Potapova, ranked No 59, beat Chinese Xinyu Wang (6-1, 6-2), Chinese Lin Zhu (6-4, 7-6 (8)), Estonian Anett Kontaveit, the top seed (6-1, 6-1) and Chinese qualifier Qiang Wang (6-3, 6-0).
