Swiss Leonie Kung beat Japanese Mai Hontama, the second seed, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the last 8 of the Polish Open on Wednesday.
Kung, ranked No 287, will play Israeli qualifier Lina Glushko next.
The Swiss won against Pole wildcard Weronika Ewald (6-4, 2-6, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Hontama, ranked No 109, defeated Indian Ankita Raina (7-5, 6-2).
