Poland Open: Siegemund sets up semi-final against Maria
Laura Siegemund won against Lucrezia Stefanini 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-3 on Saturday night and will face German Tatjana Maria in the next round
German Laura Siegemund advanced to the semi-finals of the Poland Open by beating Italian Lucrezia Stefanini 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-3 at the Legia Tennis Centre in Warsaw on Saturday.
Siegemund, ranked No 153, will face German Tatjana Maria next.
The 35-year-old German won against Pole wildcard Maja Chwalinska (6-4, 6-1) and Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 4 seed (6-4, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Warsaw tournament, Stefanini, ranked No 108, defeated No 7 seed Linda Fruhvirtova (6-1, 7-6 (4)) and Jodie Burrage (6-4, 6-1).
