Poland Open: Maria makes quarter-finals

German Tatjana Maria moved into the quarter-finals of the Poland Open by defeating Dane Clara Tauson (6-4, 6-0) at the Legia Tennis Centre in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Maria, ranked No 65, will play the winner of the match between Slovak qualifier Rebecca Sramkova and second seed Karolina Muchova next.
In the previous round of the Warsaw tournament, the 35-year-old German won against Serb lucky loser Natalija Stevanovic (6-3, 6-1).
Tauson, ranked No 91, won against Ukrainian Daria Snigur (6-2, 6-3) in the 32 of the Warsaw tournament.
