Italian qualifier Sara Errani edged out Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 to reach the second round of the Poland Open at Legia Tenis & Golf in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Errani, ranked No 127, will face Ukrainian lucky loser Kateryna Baindl next.
